Saturday, October 20, 2007 So it's around 1 week left to As. The past few days basically go back to school to try to study but sadly only managed to do physics, didn't really touch econs, maths and computing. Yesterday went to causeway point after school to buy donuts again before going home to sleep. I really have alot of work to catch up on if I want to do well I guess...and 3-4 hours of tv everyday isn't really helping much.
Sunday, October 07, 2007 Well, its official, school has indeed ended. It signifies that against the odds, i've successfully managed to complete jc, the many bitter and sweet memories generated etched in my mind forever. (i'm trying to be philosophical dammit) Last year, i went to visit cjc with my aunt and cousin the day before school started just to take a look and we ended up driving to the hostel carpark, thinking that that was the school. Little idea we had back then indeed.
Yes, and before long school started, the marists congregated at a certain area, comparing ig numbers from the letters that were issued during the holiday and basically sticking to their own groups. Orientation 1 was fun, especially after being sorted into our classes, the games we played at kallang that day...trading many points for tissue paper, being capsized into kallang river, forming a long line in search for little army figurines, it's things like these you can never redo and its things like that that make jc life what it is. Understand this, that orientation is definitely one of the best things, it might not be in jc but anywhere.
Bringing it a couple months forward, came the first intake classes, the almost daily dota-ing and even occasionally skipping classes to dota was not out of the ordinary, and the times spent at paradiz would probably match the times spent studying. End of 1st intake there were mixed feelings - the sad loss of the leisure of 1st intake, losing your classmates, but also the excitement of awaiting to meet your new classmates. Minority of the 1st intake people stayed, which was sad but a whole new different group of people joined.
I guess that's what jc life is all about - change, and how quickly you adapt to it. Next will come the mid year and promotional examinations, jc2, prelims and finally a level. Every obstacle except one has been completed, and this last one is not going to be easy.
Monday, September 10, 2007 I got bored, so I guess I'll stop it and play proper from now on.
Anyway, as a recap on what happened during the holiday:
Monday: Watched over 4 hours of iron chef (the jap aka good one) on youtube, read up on lasers
Tuesday: Watched more than 4 hours of iron chef on youtube once again, did minimal maths
Wednesday: Went to toa payoh with simon and gm to eat at lor8 curry rice, then at mac donald's to study. Simon was too afraid of asking his astro juniors to move from TPAC so we had to settle for macs instead, didn't really study much.
Thursday: Went to toa payoh with joel and erik to study at macs, then went to TPAC which was empty so we studied there till lunch time. Went to botak jones to eat, food was great, people owed me money. Then went for dental before watching iron chef america season 2.
Friday: Went to woodlands library to study, reached early which was fortunate seeing as there were MANY people there, tragically. When the library opened people had to actually rush in and thankfully I managed to get a table, and studied. Later on, went to causeway point for lunch before returning to the library to finish off at around 5pm+ but the rain was heavy. Thankfully I had an umbrella. Later on went to buy donuts and went home. Actually managed to study there as compared to other places as its quiet and there was minimal talking, and completed majority of j2 physics so hopefully I won't do papers 1 and 3 as badly as paper 2. Ahh well, it's a good place to study at least =)
Monday, September 03, 2007 As always, i usually blog when i get bored or have nothing better to do and seeing as its so long since the last entry, heck why not? Recently i have been real worried, for you see, the second half of the prelim exams are coming closer day by day, and my revision isn't up to speed to match it. Even worse, is that some of my papers for the first half (physics and gp - i'm looking at you) aren't going to do well and i need the second half to pull it up. Yup. Of course, this post isn't going to be one long post on emoing about results and preparations for prelims. Unfortunately though, it is a rather disturbing thought on what the consequences would be, and i'll leave that to next time.
Well, moving away from the topic, i've once again begun my quest for new and unlistened songs that i already have. Originally, i would only listen to probably images & words, octavarium, 6 degrees of inner turbulence part 2, scenes from a memory and train of thought from dream theater. Recently though, i've been opening up to the other more "forgotten" albums like awake, 6 degrees part 1 and when dream & day unite and the songs are great. The lesson is: never judge a book by its cover.
Heading towards the unknown especially in things like music is like an exploration as well as evolution in one's musical life. In case you're wondering, i spent most of my childhood (up to around 14-15) listening to mainly radio and pop, before the online world brought me to this beautiful genre we all know and love called metal. Then in metal i also slowly evolved, from thrash metal like metallica, to hardcore/death metal for a brief period of time before going into progressive and power, and now adding symphonic into my frequent rotation list.
the journey is endless, and slowly exploring new things is a fun and exciting thing to undertake, so try something new today. listen to that cd that's been sitting on your shelf forever, watch the movie you swore never to, life's too short for regrets and what ifs. go for it!
Friday, August 24, 2007 It was a normal day, and i originally thought that it would be yet another 'holiday' wasted but i was wrong (thank god). Later in the morning left for school to study there. Under the heavy rain from home all the way through to school and even for awhile for after, fortunately i had my umbrella so i wasn't really wet.
Memorised (or at least tried to) some econs inflation and unemployment as well as policies, and did some maths paper 2 stats portion. Yep, you would never expect me to be studying but here i am. Getting a good grade for prelims is definitely a top priority for me, as i want my laptop. In the end, studied till roughly 3+ before going to causeway point in woodlands. Really a very big place and only second time i've been there, bought bubble tea from sweet talk™ and a thumbdrive from popular™. Later on went to the basement near cold storage and queued for half an hour to buy 6 donuts from munchy donuts™, the wait was worth it! =)
